Captains Drive In

New Captain David Forrester. Lady Captain Jen Booth and President Anne Hughes enjoyed beautiful sunny weather at Knott End Golf Club last weekend for their first official events.

On Saturday night they hosted the Incoming Ball when approximately 100 people enjoyed good food and entertainment in the clubhouse.

This was followed on Sunday by the Captains Drive In competition  when members enjoyed tea and bacon butties with the Captains in the clubhouse before venturing out in beautiful sunshine to watch the Captains drive off to begin their 4 Ball Am Am Stableford competition..

Winners were Mark and Pauline Fawcett and Mick and Joanne Kay with 83 points.

Second were John and Joyce Wright and Kevan and Diane Turner with 76 points.

Third were Ron and Anne Cookson and Keith Elliott and Alex Gardner with 75 points.

Knott End Ladies found a gap in the weather and  played an 18 hole Stableford competition last Thursday.

Winner was Sylvia Wilson with 30 points.

Runner up was Pauline Fawcett with 28 point

It’s going to be a busy time at Knott End in the coming week.

On Wednesday 18th April Radio Lancashire with Sally Naden visits and  On the 22nd April it’s Open Day at Knott End starting at 1pm.

There’ll be opportunities to play a few holes on the course & pitch & putt for younger people! You’ll also be able to ride the course in a supervised buggy and have refreshments after in the clubhouse.

At the beginning of her year in Office Knott End Lady Captain Fiona Forrester chose Dementia U.K. for her charity. At the Ladies A.G.M. last Thursday evening she thanked the Ladies for their support and generosity throughout the year. The picture shows Lady Captain Fiona  presenting  Admiral Nurse Loraine Butterworth from Dementia U.K. with a cheque for £4.800

Call for volunteers

The Ladies British Open is at Royal Lytham St Anne’s this year 2 – 5  August with practice days earlier in the week.

Our current Captain Jim Furlong is the coordinator for Knott End. If you are interested in volunteering as a Marshall or as a Scorer please put your name down on the list in the ladies locker room.
